What is ijn oyodo?

IJN Oyodo was a hybrid light cruiser and seaplane carrier that served in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. She was designed to support Japanese naval operations in the Pacific, particularly by providing reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities through her onboard seaplanes.

Oyodo was commissioned in March 1943 and participated in various operations in the Pacific, including anti-submarine patrols and escort duties. She was also involved in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, where she served as Admiral Kurita's flagship.

Despite her value as a seaplane carrier, Oyodo was heavily damaged in an air raid in July 1945 and was never repaired. She was surrendered to the Allies after the war and eventually scrapped in the late 1940s.
